Presentation of the strategic lines of the European Commission's Green Paper on Cultural and Creative Industries.

The European Commission's Directorate-General for Education and Culture will present the Green Paper on Cultural and Creative Industries. This will be the first public presentation of the work developed by the Commission from prior reflexions shared by the cultural industries platform and the ad hoc governmental working party. The president of the Culture Commission of the European parliament will then reflext on the proposals made and on the challenges faced by contemporary cultural industries in Europe.

Governmental strategies for support of the cultural industries.

The session will begin with a brief presentation of the study "Culture in regional development".

Subsequently, and analysis will be made of the various visions, strategies, paradoxes and experiences derived from the action that has been taken in each country with respect to its policy for support of the cultural industry. The discussion will be centred on the diverse strategies implemented in each country according to its particular historic, geographical, cultural and industrial context, and a presentation will be made of the various governmental policies according to the sector involved, the strength of the business fabric, the characteristics of the country and the size of its domestic and international markets.

A sectoral look at the transverse challenges.

The session will begin with a brief presentation of the study "The enterprising dimension of the cultural industries".

Subsequently, an analysis will be made of the evolution of the business models in the various cultural industries, and of how the different lines of the Green Paper on cultural and creative industries interact in this models, in terms of financing, professionalisation, internationalisation, intellectual property and management of rights, and territorial developement. A reflexion will be made from a transverse perspective of the various dimensions, visions, paradoxes and experiences derived from the activity of each sector.
